The short answer is that you can not study Educare without a Matric.
The taking care of and educating a child from birth till the age of five, is known as Educare. Educare falls under NATED (the National Accredited Trade Educational Diplomas). These courses are offered by FET, TVET and Private Colleges and Institutions nationwide.
Unlike almost all the other NATED courses, it is a regulatory requirement by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), that those individuals who apply to study Educare, have a National Senior Certificate (Matric Certificate).
Entry Requirements – Entry requirements for the NATED: Educare Course are the same, no matter which college or institution you choose to study through, you must have successfully completed your National Senior Certificate.
Is There An Alternative Way For Me To Study Educare?
Yes there is!
You can complete an Adult Matric Course (Amended Senior Certificate) This course is for those students who did not pass their matric in high school or had to leave school before writing their matric exams.
Amended Senior Certificate - Explained
The idea behind this program is that anyone 21 years or older who does not have a National Senior Certificate, has the chance to get one.
This means that if you are over the age of 21, regardless of how many years it has been since you left school, you can register to do the coursework and the exams to get an Adult Matric Certificate.
Remember that there is no difference between a National Senior Certificate and the Amended Senior Certificate. Both are equal and they even look exactly the same.
Umalusi issues and awards both certificates to successful students.
