The Amended Senior Certificate

An Amended Senior Certificate is an award that is on the same level as a traditional matric qualification. This course differs from the traditional matric programme in the following ways:

• There are fewer subjects you need to complete

• There are no physical classes, so you will not need a class mark

Adult Matric Through Distance Learning

Bellview Institute of Distance Learning is an educational body that offers the Adult Matric programme. All of the coursework and assignments will be handled online, so there are no face-to-face classes you need to attend.

The only time you will need to travel to a venue during your course, will be when you write your final matric examinations at an allocated exam centre organised by the DHET.

Adult Matric Application Requirements

If you want to apply for an Adult Matric course, you need to have:

• A grade 9 (or an equivalent) certificate 
• An incomplete matric status – this simply means you did not write matric or did not pass your matric year

You must also be at least 21 years old when you go to write your final examinations.

Course Duration For Adult Matric

You can finish the Adult Matric course within a period of:

• 12 months
• 24 months
• 36 months

You can start this course when you are 19 years old, but you need to be at least 21 by the time of your final exam. The recommended period for this course is 12-24 months.
